Description

TPerimeter wrapped in Sterling, these semi-long freeform cut stones exhibit a beautiful deep vivid lapis blue. The wrap style we use allows us to cut the gemstone very thin and still maintain strength and integrity. The perimeter wire wrap holds the stone tight so they do not break like other designers slab earrings that are only drilled with no edge design. They were wrapped by my team and have our signature swirl at the top. The swirl represents the circle of life. Stone are polished to a lovely finish by hand – not tumble finished. This natural stone was purchased as a large rough stone from a vendor at the Tucson Gem Show several years ago. These are 100% handmade in the USA by my wife and myself, I finish the stone she finishes the earrings..

Gentlemen if you are purchasing her a gift, forget diamonds, get her Lapis Lazuli, and you can thank me later.

Lapis lazuli – lapis for short, is a deep-blue semi-precious stone that has been prized since antiquity for its intense color. Lapis lazuli was mined as early as the 7th millennium BCE. It was used in the funeral mask of Tutankhamun (1341–1323 BCE) By the end of the Middle Ages, lapis began to be exported to Europe, where it was ground into powder and made into ultramarine, the finest and most expensive of all blue pigments. It was used by some of the most important artists of the Renaissance and Baroque, including Masaccio, Perugino, Titian and Vermeer, and was often reserved for the clothing of the central figures of their paintings, especially the Virgin Mary.

Its deep, celestial blue remains the symbol of royalty and honor, gods and power, spirit and vision. It is a universal symbol of wisdom and truth.
